Senior Research Investigator with the Social and Behavioural Sciences Unit under the Public Health Sciences Division (Internal Advertisement #239/11)
icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates (staff members and CSA holders) for the position of Senior Research Investigator with the Social and Behavioural Sciences Unit under the Public Health Sciences Division. The appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 1 year, but may be extended for further period depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Duty station- Dhaka
Salary – Annual Tk. 911,250/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances with other admissible benefits.
Benefits/facilities – 14.8% retirement fund contribution by the Centre, Children allowance @Tk.1,420/- per child per month, medical facilities for dependent spouse and children, and free group life insurance.
Job Profile
- Managing quantitative research;
- Designing quantitative research and developing research tools;
- Supervising data collection, data analysis and research activities, routine field activities;
- Implementing research and analyzing data using sophisticated statistical methods when required;
- Writing research papers;
- Preparing training manuals and materials and organizing training;
- Coordinating and liaising with partners, other NGOs and GoB;
- Contributing in developing concept papers, projects, proposals and training sessions;
- Compiling research data;
Requirements
- Masters degree with excellent performance record. PhD from reputable institutions will be an added advantage;
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience; Length of experience may be relaxed if publication record is good or the quality of publication is high;
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel, SPSS;
- Gender sensitivity and a thorough understanding of gender related issues;
- Able to solve problems which may arise in carrying out the assigned tasks;
- Able to handle assignment in absence of his/her supervisor or independently;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills;
- Fluency in English and Bangla. Strong writing skills in English.
